Muslim medical students in London have recently been boycotting classes and lectures that properly state evolution is the process by which life came to be here on earth. I find this disturbing for several reasons, the first and most obvious being that evolution is fact, and, if you think otherwise, you are a mental defective. End of story. There is no other plausible explanation for the existence, abundance, and diversity of life, and anyone pretending there is a debate between two competing theories is either delusional or disingenuous. Second, these are medical students refusing to accept basic scientific truths because they have been brainwashed with childish folklore. The university should immediately revoke their credentials and throw them out of school; this kind of nonsense simply cannot be tolerated. I wouldn’t trust such demented clowns to repair a stuffed animal with a sewing kit let alone operate on a human being with a scalpel. Unfortunately, as we are all painfully aware, this sort of fantastic idiocy is epidemic.
40% of Americans still believe the Genesis story of the bible is literally true, and another 38% of Americans believe that man evolved but with the guidance of God’s hand. Granted, the people that believe that life evolved with the assistance of a divine being aren’t quite as deranged and credulous as those that believe God simply stuck two white people in the jungle, but they are still dwelling in a fantasy-land nonetheless. A mere 16% of the people in the United States believe that evolution was guided by natural selection. That’s pretty scary stuff, but, fortunately, the numbers are changing ever so slowly as scientists and skeptics continue their assault on morons and the nonsense they peddle.
Anyway, the above video above is a great look at Charles Darwin and the brilliant theory which he advanced. The remaining segments are after the jump.
